What is United Methodist Women? Over one million women have chosen to be members of this special organization, United Methodist Women. This community of women is centered in a relationship with God through Jesus Christ; focused on ministries for women, youth, and children; involved in missions locally and globally; pledged to provide financial support for missions; engaged in the development and use of skills for service, leadership development, and personal growth; and encouraged to work with other organizations on issues of mutual concern.
The Purpose of United Methodist Women: The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative support fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the Global Ministries of the Church.
Who is a member? Members are women just like you and me.
What does it mean to be a member? A member is one who commits herself to our Purpose and chooses to participate in meetings, prayer, giving, study, action, and service.
Emmanuel sponsors three circles: © Ruth Circle meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm at the church © Martha Circle meets the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 9:00 am at member’s homes © Eve Circle meets the 2nd Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm at member’s homes
Our women are involved in many worthwhile projects. Some of them are to be involved in Church Women United, to provide a meal in time of death, to remember our missionaries, to provide reading materials which promote growth, to support different mission agencies, to attend spiritual growth retreats, prayer breakfasts, bible and mission studies. Two of our other big events occur in December, Advent By Candlelight, which is a wonderful evening to marvel and ponder the gift of the Christ Child and at the same time to enjoy the taste of wonderfully crafted desserts and our Annual Christmas Cookies, Fudge & Craft Sale which features the work of our members and raises funds to support missions around the world. These are just a few of the things we do. And of course, we get together to have fun and socialize.
